New York is leading the charge toward a sustainable future with aggressive climate goals. The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act sets a roadmap for achieving remarkable goals, including:

  • 85% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050
  • 70% carbon-free renewable energy generation by 2030
  • 100% clean, zero-emission, carbon-free electricity on the state’s grid by 2040
  • Reduction of 22 million tons of carbon emissions through energy efficiency and electrification

These ambitious targets require a collective effort, and building owners and property managers are key players in this transformation. Greenwich Energy Solutions provides comprehensive New York energy efficiency programs that keep your building in line with those energy targets.

Complying with local energy laws

In line with New York’s climate goals, the state has various local energy laws, including:

Local Law 84 (LL84)

This annual benchmarking requirement provides a snapshot of your building's energy performance and helps you track progress with efficiency measures.

Local Law 87 (LL87)

Every 10 years, buildings undergo an energy audit and retro-commissioning, creating a roadmap for further improvements.

Local Law 97 (LL97)

This ambitious law will penalize buildings for exceeding emissions limits starting in 2025. It demands comprehensive planning and strategic action to avoid penalties.
